Tournament Recaps 1/18-20/20

10 RED

This weekend the 10's team kicked off their season at Volleypalooza at the Milwaukee Sting Center. We played in the 11s division and were only one of two 10's teams in the tournament! We started off our first match strong on Saturday and played three matches total in pool play. Although we came up short, the energy on the court was great! The team also had their first opportunity to score keep, down ref and line judge and they did a super job! Day 2 we played a tough Madison United 11s team, who went undefeated for the weekend, and we played great against them only losing 25-16 and 25-13. Our last match of the tournament was against our I AM 11's team which was super fun. This group of girls has been so fun to coach and they are only going to get better from here. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next time! Stay tuned.  #teamwork #gameface

11 RED

The 11's kicked off our club season this weekend with a 2 day tournament at MSC. Day 1 we competed really well. We took 1 out of our 3 matches played!  In the other 2 matches, we took it to 3 sets! Day 2 we won 1 out of our 2 matches. Our front row had some awesome swings, saves and tips at the net and we even saw some back row attacks! ;) Our setting, passing and serving became better as the tournament went on! Super proud of these girls team spirit too! A lot of glimmers of future success!!

12 RED

What an impressive weekend for our 12 Red team! The girls continued to exhibit growth in understanding this challenging game. Their transitions are crisper, their communication is more consistent, and their grit is a hallmark of their team's dynamic. We saw incredible points scored on sheer hustle, serving runs that put our opponents on their heels, setters continuing to get multiple hitters involved, and great plays made when we were out of system.  We had several successful back row attacks on assists from our liberos taking a 2nd ball, after our setters played the first on defense! All of this outstanding play led us to a 2nd place finish at the Sting Center. We ultimately fell to a very strong Sting team in the final, but clearly showed we can hang with them... and can beat them when we play a full 25 point set.

As coaches, not only is this a great group to guide, they are exciting to watch and that has been very rewarding. Sitting back, letting the girls figure things out, overcoming challenges, and playing inspired volleyball, is the the goal. They play for each other, they support each other, and they like each other! When this happens, winning is a bonus!

On to Green Bay in a couple of weeks!

12 BLACK

The team competed at the FriscoMo Volleypalooza tournament this weekend where we took

second place in the silver bracket! We had a slow start to day one going 0-3, but we saw many moments of greatness. We took what we learned from day 1 and came out of day 2 with a win in our first match and a tough 3 set loss (27-25, 14-25, and 14-16). We love that this team is always willing to work hard and willing to learn! We are excited to see what the rest of the season brings!

#ShoutOut to Ava for having an AWESOME serving run in the third set that put us back in the game. Also, shoutout to Maddie for getting a bloody nose and taking it like a CHAMP!!!

13 RED

The 13’s competed in their first tournament this weekend. They got better every single game they played! They got very comfortable with their lineups and made some awesome effort plays!! We are excited to see their progress as the season continues!

14 RED

14 Red had a mix of learning experiences and big progress this weekend. After a slow start they were able to go undefeated on Day 2! They came together and played as a unified team to finish the weekend. Very proud of how they continue to grow.

#Shoutout to Lauren Lanning for her leadership and relentless positive as attitude. Her mindset was a catalyst for the strong finish!

14 BLACK

What a fun and impressive weekend for 14 Black! We played in the Winter Classic tournament at the Wisconsin Center. Every player really stepped up to the plate and showed significant improvements from our last tournament. We started playing some tough teams but the girls did not let that bring them down. We ended up winning our cross over game which put us in the silver bracket. On day two, the girls fought even harder which lead to us finishing 3rd in the silver bracket and 11th overall! The girls should be very proud of themselves! I was mostly impressed with our superb passing. One thing that really stood out to me was the girls amazing passing! This group is so fun to coach whether it is on the court or off the court they always seem to be laughing and having fun. I am very excited to see what happens at our next tournament in Minneapolis!

Thank you to all the parents who came and supported the girls this weekend!

15 RED

I would guess the one word we would use to describe our weekend was impressive. After waiting an extra 2 hours to play our first match, the team worked hard and lost their 1st match of the tournament to a good adrenaline team from Iowa. We didn't play our best however we fought hard and lost 25-19, 25-23. The Red team continued to rally and win their next two matches to end the day at 11:00pm with a 2-1 record sending us to the Silver Bracket.

Sunday told a different story! Play high level ball for the next 3 matches holding every team under 18 points.  The team dictated the outcome of every game hitting .337 for the day lead by Lilly hitting a blistering .484 with 22 kills and Ella hitting .391 with 16 kills. Our serving lead by Natalie with 11 aces and was on point all day. Our ball control was so good I think we are starting to take it for granted. This allowed the setters to keep the opposing team off balance all day.

The highlight of the Tournament was definitely seeing the back one which we worked on at academy night ran to perfection. A perfect pass off of the serve by Meredith to a perfect set by Emily to a 10 foot line back one crush by Lilly (now nick named Thunder). It was great to see the girls perform at this level and continue to raise the bar.
